It was again reported today that Iranian nuclear scientists are being killed.
An Iranian nuclear scientist has been killed and another wounded in two separate but similar attacks in the capital, Tehran. The scientists were targeted by men on motorcycles who attached bombs to the windows of their cars as they drove to work, officials said. The scientist killed was Majid Shahriari, a member of the nuclear engineering faculty at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran.
"Mossad and the CIA are the enemies of Iranians and always seek to hurt this nation. They particularly want to stop our scientific progress," said Mostafa Mohammad Najjar, Iran's Interior Minister according to Iranian state television.
Iranian media reported in January, that nuclear scientist Masoud Ali Mohammadi, was assassinated in the same manner by counter-revolutionaries, Zionists and agents of the "global arrogance"

IDF Infantry Instructors
The Israeli Infantry Corps is a corps in the IDF GOC Army Headquarters. It includes several regular and reserve service units and brigades which are operatively commanded by the IDF’s regional commands.
Regular service brigades
* The Golani Brigade (Northern Command).
* The Paratroopers Brigade (Central Command).
* The Nahal Brigade (Central Command).
* The Kfir Brigade (Central Command).
* The Givati Brigade (Southern Command).
Independent battalions
* The Sword Battalion (299th)
* The Desert Reconnaissance Battalion (585th)
* The Caracal Battalion (33rd), named after the Sand Cat
Independent units
* The Duvdevan unit
* The Maglan unit
* The Oketz unit (dog handlers).
Training
At the beginning of each basic training course, there are several days of 'integration', where drill instructors convert recruits from civilians to soldiers. These are usually considered the most difficult days of any basic training program, even though they are not physically draining. During these days, recruits receive no breaks and the discipline is at its highest level.
While and each Unit training varies, there are some share commonalities. All soldiers are issued weapons after their initial integration days and must carry them until the end of the basic training course. Many lessons are also common for all corps, such as moreshet krav (literally "battle heritage"), where soldiers are taught about historic IDF operations. Most Infantry Units basic training course lasts four months. Advanced training can last another 4 months.
Physical and verbal aggression are not permitted in the IDF basic training, which leaves drill instructors with a limited number of ways to hand out punishments. Physical punishments such as push-ups and running are common ways to punish for several discipline issues. Another method of punishment is giving detention - keeping a soldier several more days in the training base instead of weekend furlough; or simply delaying the visit home by a few hours. And group punishments, where if one soldier makes a mistake, the entire platoon suffers.

At the range
While at the range this week I checked out the price on various ammo types.
9mm is the most popular ammo sold at ranges in Israel. .380, .45, .32, .22 are also available at most ranges. .357, .38 too. Winchester, Remington, Sellier and Bellot, Fiocchi, IWI, are some of the more popular brands. .40 is almost nonexistent.
The first thing that is taught is firearm safety. The firing line is not crossed, and the instructor maintains control of the trainee at all times. Finger off the trigger, weapon pointed in safe direction at all times
Next, how to carry, draw, cock, and shoot, and change magazines from a static position. Most shooters are taught the Isosceles shooting stance, although the front Weaver stance is also used.
Then how to effectively engage a single target, and after the target has fallen, to "verify" that the target has been neutralized.
Next, how to do all of the above dynamically, including stepping to the side and dropping to one knee to change magazines. And moving with one hand on the pistol and the other held up to part the crowd.
An finally how to engage multiple targets.
This is only the basics, and is taught to civilians at shooting ranges.
More advanced techniques like room clearing and other counter terrorism methods are also taught at shooting ranges.

IDF Namer APC
The Namer (Hebrew for Leopard) APC is based on the chassis of Merkava series tanks. The Namer has the thick armor of the Merkava. The Namer, like the Merkava has it's engine is mounted in the front and door in the back of the vehicle. With the turret removed, a remotely controlled (from inside the vehicle) heavy machine-gun has been added.
The Namer APC carries up to eleven people (a driver, gunner, vehicle commander and eight infantry). The passenger compartment is also equipped with a stretcher, that enables one casualty to be carried along with a full load of 11 troops. In addition to the remotely controlled 12.7mm machine-gun, there is also a roof hatch on the left forward part of the vehicle, for the commander to use, and also operate a 7.62mm machine-gun. The vehicle also has the Merkava battle management system, as well as four cameras providing 360 degree vision around the vehicle. The remotely controlled machine-gun has a night vision sight. The vehicle also has a toilet, an addition based on troop feedback (and many missions where they had to stay on board for up to 24 hours at a time in combat zones.)
Like the Merkava Mark IV, Namer has been designed for a high level of crew survival on the battlefield with modular armor, reinforced V-shaped belly armor pack, and NBC protection. The Namer is more heavily armored than the Merkava Mark IV, since, according to IDF Brigadier General Yaron Livnat, “The weight saved by eliminating the turret was ‘reinvested’ in beefing up the armor... this has resulted, with Namer being better protected than any other armored vehicle". It is also ready to be equipped with an active protection system.
Namer is capable of maneuvering in difficult terrain, powered by the Teledyne Continental AVDS-1790-9AR 1,200 hp (895 kW) V12 air-cooled diesel engine of the Merkava Mark III.
The original Merkava Mark IV rear entrance was redesigned to be a wider door ramp with a sniper port. Two hatches are fitted on the roof, which is higher than Merkava's hull roof. Namer also shares a digital battlefield management system with Merkava Mark IV.
Currently the IDF Namer APC is one of the most protected APCs in the world. It provides infantry with the level of protection and mobility matching those of the latest main battle tanks.
Israel recently announced that the Merkava (Chariot) 4 tank and Namer (Leopard) APC (armored personnel carrier) were available for export sale. The tank costs about $4 million, the APC about half that.

Easy Rescue
At ISDEF 2010 I saw an innovative design for personnel evacuation.
Easy Rescue develops and markets the BUDDY system, a lightweight, easy-to-use alternative to traditional stretcher and gurney systems used for casualty evacuation.
Made of durable lightweight fabric and sturdy plastic, the BUDDY was created by individuals with extensive experience in the civilian and military medical field.
Folded and packed into the medical / evacuation kit, BUDDY is prepared for action in seconds, ready for immediate evacuation of injured or disabled personnel.
Unlike the four-people required to carry a single wounded person on a stretcher, BUDDY facilitates efficient and rapid transport with only two. It allows hands-free evacuation, maintaining the evacuators’ capability to use of their hands for climbing, balancing or carrying and using weapons.
The BUDDY can be used in difficult to reach terrain like ravines, cliffs, or otherwise difficult terrain, It is suitable for evacuation of many types of injuries not requiring a stretcher.
According to IDF Spox, the Buddy has already been purchased by the IDF Homefront Command.

Israel beats Iran
At the World Masters Weightlifting Championship in Poland, Israeli competitor, Sergio Britva, took first place in his class. Britva lifted an astonishing 300kg of weight, beating the second-placed competitor, the Iranian Hossein Khodadadi, by 4 kilos.
The two athletes mounted the podium to receive their medals, together with the third-placed competitor from Germany. Britva and the German shook hands. But when Britva offered his to Khodadadi, the Iranian refused it.
Khodadadi was rebuked by the Iranian authorities just for standing alongside an Israeli. According to Radio Zamaneh, “the Head of Iran’s National Athletic Organization had earlier written a letter to the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, to receive instructions on how to handle situations where Iranian athletes have to confront Israeli athletes.”
This is the first time since the 1979 Revolution in Iran that an Iranian athlete has appeared beside an Israeli athlete in an official championship.
Head of Iran's weightlifting committee at the Masters Weightlifting Championships, MirRasouli Raisi, said that everything had been done in coordination with the Iranian embassy in Poland.
Khodadadi claimed that they were not able to remove their flag from the hall and all he could do was to appear in unofficial attire so that their presence would not be deemed official.
He added that if they had not attended the ceremony, they would have had to return all the medals they had received on the previous days and disqualified Iran from participating in further competitions.
At 1′26″ in the video above, you can see Britva mount the podium draped in an Israeli flag. He shakes hands with the German to his left. He turns to his right, but the Iranian declines. That doesn’t seem to bother Britva, who is deservedly delighted with his victory. Then, at 2′30″, with Khodadadi and Britva still together on the podium, a stirring rendition of Israel’s national anthem, Hatikvah, strikes up. Britva stands erect and solemn, choking back tears of pride and joy. His image then dissolves into another of the Israeli flag atop the Iranian and the German.
It was both symbolic and ironic to see Israels' flag flying higher than the flags of both Germany and Iran in Ciechanow, Poland. Germany, who in the Holocaust sought to eliminate the Jews off the face of the earth and managed to destroy the Jewish Community of Ciechanow, Poland, and Iran who today is working toward wiping Israel off the map.

IDF Women
تنسيق-الكليات-لعام سكس نيك كس Israeli Women currently perform compulsory military service in the IDF for a period of 2 years as compared with the three years required of male conscripts. Back in 1944 a group of Jewish paratroopers from the Land of Israel parachuted into occupied Europe in an attempt to help Jews escape. Among this group, Palmach members, were three women; Chana Senesh, Chaviva Raik and Sara (Surika) Braverman. Only Sara Braverman would survive; the other women were murdered. After the war of Independence, Braverman helped organized the Women's Corps in the Israel Defense Force. One Third of the combat soldiers of the strike force known as the Palmach were women. Women served as front line soldiers and even as combat pilots.
